X17 is a Seattle gallery run by artists for artists. Our goal is to create interesting art events that feature highly curated shows with artwork we think is exciting, innovative & important. We give emerging artists a chance to showcase their work, and highlight controversial or counter culture art in a manner not possible in many other venues.

X17 was founded May 2008 by Carl Faulkner and Redd Walitzki.

Over the past four years, X17 has showcased over 200 different artists (both local and international.) Our huge cast of exhibiting artists have included Brom & Laurie Brom, Ellen Forney, Augie Pagan, Crystal Barbre, Joe Vollan, Weirdo, Jeffrey Taylor, J.P. Farquar, Solace, Carlos Aguilar, Allyce Wood, Enfu and many others.

X17 was one of many studios affected by the State of Washington’s decision to evict all of the artists from the 619 Western building due to construction of the new Alaskan Way Deep-bore Tunnel. Along with 100+ other Seattle Artists, we now need to find a new venue to be able to continue our work. But X17 is taking active steps to acquire a replacement building in Seattle’s Pioneer Square.
